COMING THIS WEEKEND!
Well, I am almost ready to release this one! There is just something that draws me to these skirts! I think it is that they have such a one of a kind look! I have two testers that sent me their pictures and feedback, my third tester sold hers before she took pictures!! (I think that is so funny!!), and the fourth tester will do hers tomorrow. The results of the two I received were so cute! We ended up catching a 1/4" that I missed so I was able to correct that. See how valuable testers are!!
Do you have one of those beautiful crochet hats? I took some pictures of Rose in her flower hat and Applique' Apron Skirt. She looked so cute! Ok, I may be biased again! :) I put knit tights and a pair of black boots with a white turtleneck and I just loved the look!! Side note: I was so excited to try it on her that I did not iron the turtleneck. She was going to be the cover picture but I only saw that ol'wrinkle on the shirt! Instead my main picture is the skirts on the fence. I love that picture. Rose and Grace are underneath! The testers did their skirts with no applique' and just some coordinating fabric and it came out just as cute!
Ok, I am LOVING this look! I can just picture these skirts at a craft show booth! Want to make a statement this year or try a booth for the first time? Make some Applique' Apron Skirts!! Your booth will surely be an eye catcher!! Need some Christmas clothes to sell? Make some Christmas themed Applique' Apron Skirts. Have a display of it paired with a white turtleneck and possibly put a cute child's purse hanging on the body form shoulder! And the best part is their fun and simple! Ok, I believe I am getting carried away. Maybe I need to look into a booth!! Just dreaming...... I don't have the time this year! Maybe next year though!
Ok, I am loving this applique' apron skirt and it is so much fun to create! One of the best parts other than all the cute applique' designs you can add is the fact that I get to now use some of my higher priced fabric scraps! I really can't see that I will be releasing this before Thanksgiving. I need to test a couple more sizes and then it should be ready by this weekend! On this particular apron I used Kimberbell Kids'
Luv Bugs and Butterfly Kisses - Applique Patterns. So if you don't have an embroidery machine then you too can have fun with this skirt and the possibilities are endless!!
My next one I will do without the applique'. It will just be an apron skirt with the bow tie.
I just LOVE to get pictures of your awesome creations!! Here is one I received today using SewSensible's FAITH Double Layer Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms sewing patterns! Here is what J said, "
Hey Aimee! Here's a couple recent pictures of K's Faith Double Layer Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms. Instead of ruffles on the bottoms I made it double layered just like the top. Because I chose random prints and the two greens are different I put a band of the pink and white between the green on both the top and bottoms. I played with the decorative stitches on my machine and added a green leafy vine stitch to all the pink on both the top and bottoms. She's only worn this outfit twice so far and yet I have received a long list of complements. Oh, because we are in the winter she wears a turtle neck or long sleeve onesie with the top. Thanks for designing great patterns Aimee!"
Thanks, J, for your kind words and K looks so cute in your awesome Mommy creation!! I also like the bottoms you created and I am so happy to hear you used some decorative stitching! Was it fun?
If you have an awesome Mommy creation you made using SewSensible patterns and you would like to "show it off" then please send it to me at
sewsensible@sewsensible.net.Also, if you go to my website and don't see a pattern collection that you are wanting, please don't hesitate to email me and let me know. I tried to add different pattern collections but it is sometimes not so easy to find them on my site. Sorry!
I am not much of a forum girl and not because I don't like them..... it is more of trying to find the time to read and comment and just participate in the discussions. AllBrands told me about their forum and I have to say I love it! It is such a friendly place to visit and also see what others are sewing! It is called
SewForum! Check it out if you haven't already!
I am busy working on SewSensible's Applique' Apron Skirt! It is coming out so cute! Ok, I know I may be a little biased!! There will be options: optional bow tie and of course you could just use another coordinating fabric and make the skirt without an applique and it comes out just as cute. Yesterday I started making one using a sewing machine applique from
YouCanMakeThis! This is for all those that do not have embroidery machines. I use a little more length on my zig zag to give it more of a handmade look and also because I just am not a great sewing machine applique'-er! I love the way it is looking. I will finish it today and post pictures tonight hopefully.
Here is another outfit I made for our local AllBrands store. I used SewSensible's FAITH Double Layer Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms to match. This is definitely more for the Spring but adding a peasant top underneath will work great for the fall and winter months! And it actually criss crosses in the back but this one was a little too big for Grace so I tied it a little tighter making it hide the criss cross look.
Here is another outfit that will be in our local
AllBrands store. This is SewSensible's Scoop Neck Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms sewing patterns. I added the rick rack to the bottoms to match the dress. I used
fabric from AllBrands as well! Grace did great taking these pictures as the weather was low 50's while taking this! She was a trooper!! I love you, Grace! Thank you my sweet daughter! Rose will get the next one!
This is an outfit using SewSensible's Boutique Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms sewing patterns I made for
AllBrands to showcase in one of their stores. I had to take a picture of it on one of my sweet daughters before passing it to AllBrands! Because we are in the colder months, I added a collared white undershirt. I love these pants so much that I went and bought enough of this fabric to make my girls each a pair! I plan on using them for Christmas and Valentine's Day! That way I can justify the price per yard!! :) I also have an old chenille bedspread that I am planning to use as the fabric for each of my girls a Scoop Neck Dress Top. This will be their Christmas Dress to match these beautiful cordoroy boutique bottoms!
Last year I participated in this and Grace and Rose helped me! This was a very fun Mother Daughter project. If you are looking to be part of making a difference in a child's life this Christmas, visit
You Can Make This for more information about their 2nd annual
Twirls for Girls to Toys to Tots!! They have some free sewing patterns for these precious skirts and dresses!!
I am also going to be offering some simple
Christmas gifts this year! These will come as picture shown above. I have not added them yet on my website but will this week. This is for a quick stocking stuffer for your sweet girlfriends, makes a great hostess gift or if you have an internet sewing friend this would be a great gift idea! When you place your order, you will write the name and address of the person to receive the gift and I will mail it to them for you! When they open their package they will have their sewing pattern gift in a cute moss green fabric organza drawstring bag. I will also be personalizing it with a gift card from you to them.
I am excited to announce that SewSensible Sewing Patterns will also be available for purchase at
AllBrands.com!! They have recently added fabric and patterns to their website and stores! I am so excited to have a new fabric store in town!! Today I am focused on fulfilling their order. Here is a picture of what I already have done. I am about a quarter done!! I will also be sewing a sample line of outfits to go in one of their stores to show customers the end result of my patterns! This is a new venture for SewSensible. I am very excited! I am now accepting
wholesale accounts. This is not for a downloadable product. This is a cd with SewSensible Sewing Patterns on it in a cd case with the new SewSensible look! Also, Nanette, my sewing chic friend, will also be selling her patterns there as well! Go check
them out when you have time!
I just cannot resist this! I never knew how much I really like quilts! LOL
Old Red Barn is giving away three quilts. Stop by and leave a comment to enter the drawing!
Ok, this was a fun customer creation to get today! Here is an awesome Mommy creation who admits this is her creation of the "frugal"
Boutique Bottoms!! Here is what this "frugal" Mommy said,
"I absolutley am not very good at sewing but I love to try. This is my invention of the "frugal" boutique bottoms, I took an empire waist ladies demin dress and cut off the top. Then I put my bb pattern so the bottom hem of the dress would keep the hem for the bb. then I put some lace on the bottom and the elastic in the top for the waist. SEW easy!! I paid $0.25 for the dress and $0.10 for the lace at a garage sale, so I had $0.35 in the bottoms. Just wanted to share what I did, I am SO excited I could actually understand and follow the pattern. Which normally is very difficult for me. lol Blessings to you!!"
Love this, A!! What a great look! You cannot beat that price!! Wow, I wonder what else is out there to make some more frugal Boutique Bottoms!! Thanks so much for sending the picture and email! Have a great and blessed weekend!
Here is a precious little princess that I never get tired of seeing! She is wearing one of her many awesome Mommy creations using SewSensible's
FAITH Double Layer Dress Top sewing pattern! Look how cute she looks!! Here is what D said,
"I can't get enough of this pattern, love it , love it."
D, you are an awesome Mommy who looks like you are having SEW much fun with creating some awesome custom clothes for T!! Thank you so much for blessing me with these pictures!!

Hello! I hope you are liking my new SewSensible look! I am trying to change everything over and it is happening slowly but surely! It feels so fresh and fun to me! Here is what I am working on today: SewSensible's Applique' Apron Skirt! This is a fun skirt to make and fun to wear! I have added an optional tie on the side. The apron panel has coordinating fabrics along the sides. The bunny design is my SewSensible Bunny Embroidery Design but I am going to do one with machine applique' so that if you do not have an embroidery machine you will enjoy sewing this cute skirt as well! And of course you don't even have to have an applique'! You can just make an apron skirt without the applique and it will still be super cute!
I have paired this skirt with a new jacket/overcoat pattern I am working on. I will be making some adjustments to the sleeves. This is a cute cute addition for the winter months. It will have ruffles all the way around and on the sleeves and it ties in the front. I don't know if you can tell there is a tie since the fabric is the same as the ruffles. It is very simple to sew and it is reversible!! I am going to also try lining it with fleece and see how that comes out. The picture above does not show the ruffles because I stopped working on it because I did not like the way I drew out the sleeve/bodice pattern so I am going to redo it! Why do I use my good fabric for testing!! I'll learn one of these days!! LOL
Here is a cute cute customer creation using SewSensible's
HOPE JOY Bubble Top sewing pattern and SewSensible's
Twirl SKORT Skirt sewing pattern! And this is what this Mommy said,
"I just finished these up last night! They were easy to make and I love how they turned out! Thanks again for the wonderful patterns, keep em coming!"
Thanks, J, for the pictures and the kind words!! I didn't know how to enlarge what you had so sorry for the small pictures! She looks adorable and your outfit is spectacular!!
I thought I would show you how SewSensible sewing patterns begin! This is a picture of the upcoming Simple Sunday Dress. Once I made a test I decided to add a flower or bow and then drew a bow on it in pencil and made a second test of the dress and added the bow. That is the picture below that Rose has on. This is pretty much how all of my patterns begin.
Today I drew a cute little jacket pattern. I am cutting it out and hope to test it this weekend. I will not know if this will be a SewSensible pattern until after I test it! Maybe I'll have a picture on Sunday!!
I pray all of you have a very blessed weekend!
Here is a dress pattern I have been working on: the Simple Sunday Dress! The pictures above are my tests of this pattern. I have not finished the bottom. I am planning on having an optional ruffle. This is a super easy dress to make. The optional bow in the front will be changed to make the ties a little shorter and I need to change the underarm of the sleeve slightly. There is also an optional ruffle for the sleeve. I believe I will change it to gather a little more than what it is. I will know once I test it. Also, no buttons or zippers!! Easy easy!! I keep seeing this dress with a great pair of boots for some reason!! Of course I need to find the right fabric for that one!
Currently I am working on completing the Applique' Apron Skirt and then I will give my attention to this one.
Here is an awesome Mommy creation from a new sewing Mommy using SewSensible's

Here are some awesome Mommy creations!! This Mommy used SewSensible's Scoop
