DESCRIPTION:
The Boutique Serving Spoon and Cake Serving Spatula Sleeves are a way to add some fun to your family gatherings, office parties, and/or children's birthday cake table decor! The Boutique Cake Serving Spoon is just the sweetest additional decor to your little girl's birthday party!! It just gives a little extra dazzle around the cake table!! You can also add some bling bling to these spoon sleeves to really go the extra mile at your parties and gatherings!!

Bib Apron Sewing Pattern!

A year ago I designed two apron patterns. One of the testers of the apron pattern emailed me the other day to see if she could get the pattern again because she could not find hers and she really wanted to make a bib apron for her twin sister. I am thankful that she did email me because it got me excited about the aprons again! I decided to try and make it available before Christmas. This is the bib apron but the pattern also makes a hostess apron. I posted the pics last year. Here is the Hostess Apron from this pattern. I have designed it to be very simple to sew. It really would make a great gift for your girlfriends along with a matching Boutique Serving Spoon Sleeve! Ha! Now to get them available!!

Boutique Serving Spoon Sleeve! The sleeve on the right above was actually extra fabric from my girls' Thanksgiving Dresses and so was the ribbon. It was cute that they matched the Green Bean casserole serving spoon. However, a beautiful damask print, animal print with Christmas red ribbon would really make your casserole dish POP!!!!! It is simple and easy and only takes some of your left over fabric! yay!! This is a great hostess gift idea or a fun way to add holiday decor to any party or gathering. It will also make a great addition to your child's cake serving spoon or your salad serving spoons! So many fabric choices makes for a very fun project..... and super fast!

Christmas Skirts!

The girls wanted skirts this winter so they could wear their stockings and boots so that has been the outfit of choice this season which made it SUPER easy for me!! I made a Christmas skirt for three of my daughters and then made two more for two of my nieces. They loved their skirts and so did I (especially because it did not take long to make all five!) The pictures above were at our home for Christmas Eve. It is tradition for my Mom, brother, sisnlaw and their children to come over. It was later in the evening this year so all was inside which made for a loud blessed time with 10 children running around! (and Zoë even cooperated and smiled which was a Christmas miracle too ;)

For Christmas presents, I did make more skirts for other nieces and Annalyce and Mia always get an outfit for Christmas. I made them each a Boutique Dress Top with matching Boutique Bottoms. As soon as the weather gets a little warmer I will take pictures of them wearing it. I know they will look so cute!!

I am looking forward to the New Year! I have all my drawings of new designs and I plan to start narrowing down to about 5-7 patterns this week and next. I am excited about 2010 and my prayer is that all of you and your family are abundantly blessed this new year! May God increase your finances through these difficult times! My hope is that some of you can make some Boutique clothing using my easy patterns to make some extra income for your family. Some great ideas are to make a few outfits and take them to your church. You will be amazed at the Moms that will want to order some outfits. The best way to simplify and not get overwhelmed is to purchase a few coordinating fabrics and offer three simple designs to start off with. You can offer the Boutique Dress Top with a matching Boutique Bottoms and/or FAITH Double Layer Dress Top with a matching Boutique Bottoms, and/or a solid tee with a cute pair of ruffled Boutique Bottoms. All of these patterns are not just easy to sew but they make adorable outfits that just do not go out of style. There are many great fabric shops and I have found that some of the fabric designers I love make the prettiest coordinating fabrics which make it so easy to choose fabric for an outfit. Some great fabric designers are Jennifer Paganelli (Sis Boom), Heather Bailey, Amy Butler, Bari J, Paula Prass, Tanya Whelan, Tina Givens, Lila Tueller, Laura Gunn, Genevieve Gail, Sandi Hendersen just to name a few. There are so many out there! I do a lot of my fabric shopping at FatQuarterShop but there are many great fabric shops that have the same fabric like fabritopia, fabfanatic fabrics, fabric attic, fabric cafe, fabric hound, fabric junkie, fabric worm, and there are so many more. New Downloadable Sewing Patterns Coming Soon!

Well, here is my newest project: The Virtuous Apron Collection! These will be my first women patterns. I have so enjoyed putting on an apron in the kitchen and having that magical feeling of going back in time. I even think my food tastes better when cooking with an apron and my husband has surely liked it ;) But most importantly, I want to be "that woman." I want to be virtuous, I want to feel divine and gracious. Through day to day disciplining and falling short of those titles, I still desire to be a virtuous woman that builds up and takes the awesome position of wife and Mom God has blessed me with. This apron just helps me feel a little more like her :).

I am in the process of making a few corrections the testers pointed out. And many thanks to the testers! You are a blessing and your words about the aprons were kind, sweet, and some funny! Just to let you readers know, some of us felt a little sexier in the kitchen with our apron on! A little lipstick, a great looking apron and a little jump in our step had some of us giggling for sure! This is an easy sewing project with a no-handsewing technique for making it reversible which makes for a great gift for Christmas parties and get togethers!

Check out Miss "B" in her Miss Divine apron!! Her mom was one of my testers and her daughter tried it on!! "I must say Miss "B" you look Divine!!!!! ;)"

At this time, these will be downloadable patterns. The first is Miss Divine. She is reversible and charming! (pictured above.) This design may look familiar to you. Not only is this more of a classic apron style but I took my women's dress top that I made this summer and made it into this apron. I still hope to make the dress top a pattern one day.

The second one is Miss Gracious. She has a hint of being sweetly pure and a 1950's feel! I can't wait to show her to you! She can also be a half apron.

These will be some of my newest downloadable patterns and look for several more children's boutique sewing patterns as well in 2010!

Scoop Neck Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms Sewing Pattern

Sewing Patterns!

Busy Busy as all of us are..... right!? Currently I am working on three projects: the one you see above which is reversible, another project similar to this one, and also working on getting the Scoop Neck Dress Top physical! I will share more in detail about the first two projects soon.

We were able to take some fun family pictures last week (I think I already mentioned this but it is still in my mind)! I am a stressed out crazy Mommy when it comes to try and get everybody to be in a good mood and do their part for pictures. Well, again this year..... it is just not reality for us with small children!!!!! We encountered three meltdowns from three different children at three different times! And then our six year old son had a very loose tooth that made him have this funny weird smile FOR ALMOST ALL OUR PICTURES!! It's ok though..... my husband reminded me we will have many more years for family pictures and that made me feel a little better! The joys of Motherhood! Life is good! May your Thanksgiving holidays be abundantly blessed!

Christmas Sewing Projects, Thanks, Happy New Year!

This is my precious Mother and wonderful husband! They are my best friends! Because of my Mom and my husband, I was able to get a lot accomplished in 2008 in reference to SewSensible! Mom, I love you so much. Thanks for ALL the encouraging words of wisdom you have poured into me and the times you have helped me with the children when I needed it with SewSensible! And, Tommy, thank you for helping me with a smile anytime I needed you especially those days and nights when I was completing a pattern. You are my gift from God! I love you!

And of course thanks to all of you who are reading this! Your comments, your emails, your kind words, your awesome custom creations have blessed me more than you probably know! Thank you!

This year the girl gifts were a pair of Boutique Bottoms with a matching applique tee! Of course I waited until the last minute and was sewing up until the 23rd to finish these gifts mainly because I was also still sewing for my three girls which I made them each an applique tee and at the last minute Asa wanted one too so that meant making him and Elijah one. Not next year! I have already ordered some of my fabric and will start planning for 2009 gifts early. I'll post about it and maybe some of you might want to start as early as I am planning. Now if you don't see some posts about gifts in the next couple of months please REMIND ME about this post!!!!! LOL

I also have two more outfits that I guess I did not take a picture of. They are cupcake applique outfits using SewSensible's Boutique Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms. Hopefully next year I will have some cute dolls to go along with the outfits! We will see!

And I have three sewing patterns on the drawing table and will dive into those as soon as 2009 begins. I also will be working on another free tutorial...... this one (if it comes out the way I am thinking) will be fun and so cute for our little girls! Here are two cute cute awesome Mommy creations!! Above is SewSensible's Applique' Apron Skirt sewing pattern. Now this Mommy did her applique with a sewing machine and look how cute it is!! Here is what this Mommy said, Aimee', You did it again.... This skirt is fabulous and so easy to make.... I used a bunch of Park Slope fabric in different sizes. I think it would even be fun to use coordinating fabric and have different fabrics for the skirt panels." Great job, L!! Love this skirt! You did an awesome job!

Boutique Bottoms sewing pattern and Applique!

This is what I have been doing last night and this morning. Not because it takes long to sew these pants but because I have to work in spurts with all my sweet children around. I did the applique last night and finished the Boutique Bottoms this morning. The other day I finally organized my Christmas sewing projects. One year I used those $1-$2 white bins. I bought a bin for each child I sewed for and labeled the bin. I thought I would do the same thing this year but I never made it to the Dollar Store so I saw somewhere online someone using ziplock bags to organize their sewing projects. I had lots of those in the kitchen so that is how I am organizing my sewing projects this Christmas. Each bag gets a child's name with their sewing project inside. And my Mom actually suggested that I look into the hanging shoe bag organizer. If the pockets are big enough that might be a good way to organize sewing projects in 2009! I'll let you know!

Above is my nieces Santa picture outfits! Aren't they so cute!! LOL You can't see it but they each have their initial on the stocking applique'. The best part about these outfits other than I just love the way they look is the price I made them for. This year, just like all of us, we are on a budget. The red shirts were purchased at our local Wal mart for $2.50 and $3.50 a piece and the fabric was on sale for about $2.50 a yard online at Hancock fabrics. I used about a yard each for each bottom. So the total for one outfit was about $7.00 after shipping and a whopping total of $14.00 for both!! Now that is in our budget! And I'll be making a white applique shirt to match these bottoms so that they can where the Boutique Bottoms after Christmas as well!

I also finished one more of our daughters Christmas Chenille Scoop Neck Dress Top that I am making out of an old white chenille blanket. The cost of three Christmas dresses will be about $3.00 and that is the cost of the thread and the little bit of rick rack I am using to accent the bodice of each. WOW!! I am SEW excited about these "right on the budget" sewing projects!!

You too can be on budget this year with Christmas! Custom Creations are awesome Christmas gifts that are just absolutely adorable as well! And if you don't have an Embroidery Machine, YouCanMakeThis has some great sewing machine applique designs or you can just add a cute coordinating fabric yo yo flower to the shirt instead of an applique! Jennifer Paganelli has a great video tutorial on Country Living magazine for you! It is sew easy and free and you would be using your fabric scraps from your sewing project!! There are so many ideas. Another great idea is to use some of the leftover fabric and make a easy belt/tie that they wear high on the waist. It brings an ordinary shirt to the next level!! Here are some awesome Christmas Felt Ornaments from a creative Mommy who does not have an embroidery machine! So even if you do not have an embroidery machine, you can still use the free Christmas Felt Ornament Tutorial! Here is what this creative Mommy said, "Aimee', Here are the ornaments I made using your pattern..... You know I don't have an embroidery machine, so I just did the tree and JOY by hand.... I also used some of my Michael Miller snowflake fabric and appliqued it to the felt for my snowflakes... I used some decorative stitches around the edges. I think they look so vintagey! Is that a word?? LOL! They look like something my great grandmother would have made, and I LOVE that. Thanks for the great pattern!" L, great work!! Very inspiring and they do look "vintagey"!! LOL
