"Aimee--Hi there! I kept checking on your patterns at All Brands. I'm sending you a picture of my girls in matching Faith Tops for their Easter egg hunt outfits! But I think that the eggs on the main fabric are kind of abstract and they can wear them all spring! My youngest daugher, is wearing the size 1/2 and my oldest daughter is wearing the size 5/6. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern and also posted this picture over at sewforum. I can't wait to make some more for summer! Thanks for designing such fabulous and friendly patterns. I am loving your new pleated reversible dress top. I hope that you and your family had a blessed Easter. Thanks for so freely sharing your talents! In Christ, M""I purchased a few patterns a while back and now have a picture to share. I made matching outfits for my girls and my niece and their dolls. They were sooo easy to make and they turned out beautiful. The girls felt like princesses and were so excited to show them off. They definitely love to match, and we are now planning the next set of outfits. After my battle to thread the machine, everything else was easy. I love the step by step pictures. I am looking forward to buying some more of your patterns. Keep up the great work and I love to look at everyone's wonderful creations. V "

Boutique Bottoms Sewing Pattern, and
Boutique Easter Basket Sewing Pattern
"Aimee, I've been wanting to "write" for over a year now. I've fell in love with your patterns, and everyone who sees my N's outfits has a fit over them! They immediately ask where I purchased them. I've referred several moms and grandmoms to your site. I'm attaching a couple of photos of N wearing some of our creations. One is her Faith double layer top and bottoms in a cherry fabric. The other is her scoop neck top and bottoms with matching Easter basket. It's so fun mixing and matching the coordinating fabrics. May God continue to bless your family! Thanks for sharing your creativity with others. A"

Here is an awesome Mommy creation from one of my blogging friends!! Leigh Ann, love the skirt but love your daughters cute dimple the most!! Thanks for sending this in!! And here is what LA said about SewSensible

Here are some AWESOME Mommy creations!! All are incredibly beautiful and all the children are so sweet looking in their handmade outfits made by Mommy!! Thanks all of you for sending them in to me! Receiving your custom creation photos is like getting more chocolate drizzled all over a double chocolate fudge brownie..... very enjoyable!!!!! (Ok, I must be wanting some chocolate real bad!!!!! LOL)

SewSensible Boutique Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms sewing pattern

"Hi Aimee, I finally got some picture taken yesterday of my little princess in her new outfit. I think I've improved my sewing a bit on this one and I have to say I love this on her! Thanks so much for making such great patterns. THANKS, for making this new sewing Momma look good. :) I also included a picture of a little dress that I made, using pieces of the dress top pattern, out of a free hand me down SHOWER CURTAIN! I think it turned out pretty cute for free. Thanks, A"

Here is the reverse of the new sewing pattern! It is such a sweet look (ok, I may be biased!!) The favorite part is I can make one of these little dress tops in under an hour and have two dresses! This will be perfect for our Disney trip next month!! I will also have the Boutique Shorts with ruffle or band paired with it and I will also add directions for pantaloon (bloomers) in case some of you want that look too! This was a suggestion from a SewSensible friend!
Today I submitted FAITH's new directions to some testers and am still in need of a couple more testers who have never used FAITH Double Layer Dress Top pattern before. The new drawings and directions are for transitioning all my patterns to a physical pattern. I have some great tester photos of the Boutique Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms from some great women who volunteered to test the new directions for both! I will be posting their pictures this week and I received some other awesome Mommy creations over the weekend and last week too! I am a little behind because of the Foster Care Fun Day event we had and then April is a big birthday and anniversary month for us along with the celebration of Easter! It's all a blessing!

Here are some quick snapshots I took of the girls yesterday. And Elijah had to be in there with his sisters!! These are not the best pictures but it gives you a better idea what the shoulder tie reversible pleated dress top will look like with the ruffle boutique shorts (with optional band instead of ruffle!) That was a mouthful..... i'll have to shorten that name for sure!
Happy Easter!!

Rose and Grace's outfits size 5/6 and 3/4

Pleated front with rick rack accent
Zoƫ's outfit size 7/8
I told you I was making quick and simple outfits for Easter! This is my next pattern that will come out. It is a simple reversible shoulder tie dress top with matching shorts. The Boutique Shorts can be made with ruffles or a coordinating band. There are a couple changes that I believe I will make..... pleats or no pleats, or go the other direction with pleats. The ones above are one variation I am looking at but I have a few other ideas about the dress top. This is an ideal outfit for my southern daughters with the hot weather already here!! :) At least for a quick and simple three-days-before-Easter-outfit!! After this pattern will come another shoulder tie dress but not reversible. It will be very similar to the dress I made Grace for her birthday.
I pray all of you are having a very blessed Easter week and I do pray that each of you are personally blessed this weekend by God's abundant Grace and I also pray you are lavished with His love!!
Happy Easter! In Christ, Aimee'

I am here! The past weekend my husband and I and some others led an event for the foster children in our community along with it being part of our church's
Servolution. I had to put SewSensible aside for the past two weeks in order to make sure this event was a success and with great enthusiasm our OCS Fun Day was a success and we possibly have 7 of the 16 children matched to a forever family!! If you would like to see read some more about the event, you can go
here! It was a very emotional event for me.
This week I am sewing my daughter's Easter Dresses..... something real simple and quick!! It is actually going to be my next new sewing pattern!! I know, where is the other one I started!!? It'll eventually come but this one took priority because it is so simple and so quick and the best part about it that it is reversible!! I hope to have some pictures sometime this week! April is a busy month for our family. It is one of our son's birthday this Wednesday. Asa will be six. I can't believe he is already six! Asa was our first born son we adopted so with his birthday come many many wonderful memories of the moment God started blessing us with children. It is me and Tommy's anniversary, it is my brother's birthday, and it is another daughter's birthday which also sparks some awesome memories of how Rose became our daughter! She will be six too! They are 19 days apart: one from the states and one from Peru! And it is Easter!! A blessing of a month!!
I pray you have been having some blessed days and I pray your Easter week is abundantly blessed!

Ok! Don't these pictures scream Spring!!!!! Love the fabric combinations and love love the cutie models!! This awesome Mommy used SewSensible's

Today I made a
Simple Sunday Dress for demonstration purposes for the
AllBrands Sewing Class tomorrow! (size 6 months - 9 months above) This is some of their awesome fabric. So delicate and sweet, I think! Grace just got her pink Care Bear out of the dryer and she was hugging her in the kitchen and so you see who got to be the model tonight! Grace wanted her to keep it but it is not ours to keep. This will go in the AllBrands store after the class.
Sewing Tip: If you purchased the Simple Sunday Dress you will notice at the end of the directions that I suggest tacking the bow. I highly suggest that. It is very simple to do. I simply tie the bow and tack about 2 stitches forward and back as close to the knot of the bow as possible in the middle of one of the creases. I do this on each side of the knot. Then I tack 2 stitches forward and back on the second piece of the loop of the bow on each side. Does that make sense? You know how the bow is two loops and there are two pieces to a loop. The second tacking I do is the second piece of the loop. Am I really confusing you!! :) Once it is done, the stitches are hidden in the creases and the bow is in place!
Here is some awesome Mommy creations using the
Simple Sunday Dress sewing pattern and
FAITH Double Layer Dress Top sewing pattern! Wonderfully done!!!!! Here is what this awesome Mommy said,
"Hi Aimee, here is my first attempt at the simple sunday dress. I love it, it is so simple to make. I've also attached another faith top/dress I made. Keep the patterns coming , Love them....D"Thanks, D, for sending me these pictures! Great job and I love the floral fabric you picked out!
New Venture: My new venture to get my patterns to the physical is going good! I have really been working on the directions and as soon as the testers test the new directions and graphics then I will be transitioning all my patterns to the new directions as I create them. The new directions are still geared towards the beginner sewer and thanks so much for the ones who responded to test!! I have finished the Boutique Bottoms and Boutique Dress Top and am almost finished FAITH. I will be sending these off to the testers this weekend. I have another sewing class at
AllBrands. We will be sewing the Simple Sunday Dress!

Look how cute this little mascot Twirl SKORT is!! I have my Twirl SKORT fabric ready to create three "Disney" Animal Kingdom outfits!! Here is what this awesome Mommy said,
"Thank you, from a Home EC dropout that only completed her drawstring bag in school in the 6th grade. I bought your Faith Top pattern last weekguess I thought that i could sew?. Finished making 2 of them in 2 hours:, and within 24hours of my first order I bought my 2nd pattern. I made the twirl skort, finished last night. It is adorable. The pattern was very easy to do. The illustrations were very easy to follow. It helped that I could enlarge the directions for greater detail. I will let my cousin try on the skort after I pick her up from school today!! I know she will love it. Thanks again!! Love the patterns please keep them coming!! Thanks for the inspiration!!" Wow!! Thanks so much, C, for sending this cute cute picture of your awesome Twirl SKORT Skirt and thanks so much for the kind words!!

As always, I get so touched when you send in your awesome Mommy creations! Here is another one of those emails from a first time Mommy sewer! I hope it brings you inpiration and encourages you and says to you "You Can Do This Too!!" Here is what this first time Mommy sewer said, "Just wanted to thank you for the awesome pattern! I had never sewn anything before and even had to read my owner's manual to figure out how to thread my machine. Previously my sewing machine had sat in a closet for 2 years after purchasing it and a pattern at the fabric store determined to teach myself to sew. Three long confusing days later I threw it in the back of the closet vowing to never touch it again. Last week I decided to give it another go and purchased your twirl skort pattern. In a weekend I was able to create my twirl skort. Your directions were so clear that I was never confused, in fact I was actually having fun. Creating this skirt even gave me the confidence to attempt to appliquƩ a matching shirt. My daughter loves the set and so do I. I can't wait to make more!!!!!"
First, look how cute her little girl is in her new "Mommy" created outfit!!!!! WoooHoooo, J! How awesome!! Your skort is just too awesome as well!!
Ok, how awesome is this email! So for all you Moms who have your sewing machine hidden and tucked away in a closet because you got frustrated at your last attempt at sewing..... take her out and put her to good use!! You can do this!! The best advice I could give is allow yourself to make mistakes. It is OK! It will actually help you learn faster and better. Use your sewing manual when you need it. If you lost your manual, get online and find another one. They are out there. You will be amazed at all the good sewing techniques that are in your manual. For SewSensible Patterns, all you need to know how to do is a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch! And you don't need an expensive sewing machine for this!! I started SewSensible on the $99 sewing machine my Mom gave me about 8 years ago and I still use it now!!
My New Venture! In several posts back, I talked about Kay Whitt with
SewSerendipity. There are just some people that you know crystal clearly God put in your path. Kay is one of those people. I am in the process right now converting all my patterns to an actual physical pattern. I am almost finished with the
Boutique Bottoms and will be working on the Boutique Dress Top. It is work but the new venture is so exciting!! I have released this to God and He can do what He wants with it. I am keeping my goal: designing with the beginner in mind. Pretty soon I will be in need of 5 people to test the new directions. I really will need someone who has never used SewSensible patterns before and I would love if they were a first time Mommy sewer!! If you are, please email me at
sewsensible@sewsensible.net
I pray all of you have an abundantly blessed weekend!
I am adding this picture to show what the pantaloons look like underneath the skirt. Lee, there are ruffles on the skirt and ruffles on the pantaloons (shorts). :)

SewSensible
HOPE JOY Bubble Top and
Boutique Bottoms sewing patterns

Sweet Sweet! Look at this sweet Mommy creation using SewSensible
HOPE JOY Bubble Top and
Boutique Bottoms sewing patterns. Here is what this awesome Mommy said,
"Thanks for making it so simple to get instant gratification!!" Thank you so much for sending me these pictures! Your daughter is too cute!! Love love the outfit and fabric combinations!! You can't go wrong with pink in my book :)

And here is another awesome Mommy creation using SewSensible FAITH Double Layer Dress Top sewing pattern! Here is what this Mom said,
"Aimee, how about the Faith top as a dress. . .I'm liking it! I never paid any attention when my mother sewed growing up. Now, as a mother of five (four girls), I'm beginning to sew and enjoying the creative outlet sooo much. Without your patterns and pictures, I'd have never had the courage to try. My mother is impressed and thinks you've taught me a lot. Thank you and keep 'em coming." Ok, first this little cutie is just edible looking! Asa, our first son, was just as chunky as your precious daughter and I just loved all those chubby parts!! Yes, I like FAITH as a dress! Great job and thanks for sending me the picture!! And thanks so much for the kind words!
And then here is another awesome Mommy creation using SewSensible Boutique Bottoms sewing pattern. Again, pink always works for me! Cute cute!! And your precious daughter seems to love it too!

Well, here is a peak at my next sewing pattern. I have not named it yet but it is a simple Shoulder Tie Dress. I will make some changes like I believe I will add a tie..... not sure yet. Other than that it is a fun dress to make using some cute coordinating fabric! Tomorrow is Grace's birthday and this is the "Mommy" creation I made for her! I also appliqued SewSensible's
Applique Ice Cream Cone and
SWAK Applique Cupcake on her jeans and dress! I just love the color combinations! It's just perfect for my little 4 year old princess!!
Kay, owner designer of SewSerendipity
There are different people that you come across in your life or at least my life that really impact me and inspire me and leave an impression with me that will never be forgotten! In reference to SewSensible, a few come to mind, first Nanette from Nanoo Designs, who not only helped me with sewing questions in the beginning and sometimes even now but we have also shared this business venture together! When I think about Nanette I can't help but think of a big heart. That is
Nanette: a mother and friend with a big heart! Thanks, Nanette! Oh, and she has a new pattern available now and one in the testing phase! You can check it out
here.
Another woman that comes to mind is Kim from
You Can Make This! Kim's site was the first place I started selling my patterns and little did I know then that today it would be what it is. When I think of Kim I think of smiles, a soft sweet disposition, and an awesome business woman. I have never met her personally but she has definitely left a lasting impression with me. Thanks, Kim, for your encouraging words and for giving me an opportunity to let SewSensible blossom!
And I have to add
Jennifer Paganelli. I definitely have never met her but you can't help but be drawn to her. Go ahead and see why! Check out her
blog and
website. A successful business woman, Mom, and fabric designer yet she gives you the impression you have been friends for years!! She has surely left an impression with me that I will never forget. And Jennifer has her new fabric design available,
Flower Power!! I already ordered me some at
Fabritopia. I plan on making some
Twirl SKORTS for my daughters for our family Disney trip in June! Thanks, Jennifer, for your kindness, your sweet heart, and of course your beautiful fabric designs! You make sewing so much fun!!
And then their is Kay! Kay is one of those people! What kind of person am I talking about? You know, the one who helps you pick up your coins when you drop them, the one who lets you out in an overcrowded congested street corner, she's the one who you don't even know in the grocery store but she looks at you and says Good Morning! Ok, so I don't know for sure if she does all this but my first impression tells me she is all of these things! SewSensible started as a hobby but God had other plans for it. If you were to cut me in half there would be three specific passions in my life:
God,
My family, and
Orphans/Adoption. Little did I know God would give me another passion: SewSensible! I never envisioned that SewSensible would be what it is today and I am in awe that God continues to "step it up a notch." This is where Kay comes in. A simple email from one of Kay's friends (who I don't have permission to mention her name but that story will be told one day as well :) connected me with Kay. She has already impacted me in the short week I have talked with her via email!
Kay is a designer of sewing patterns for clothing and accessories with a modern yet classic style. But more than that she is a woman of no nonsense, a woman who does not have a problem in helping another pattern designer grow and a woman that the world needs more of! Thank you so much, Kay, for sowing into me. May you reap as much as you have sown in me!! She is the owner of
SewSerendipity. Please visit her site and blog when you get a chance. And look at that beautiful trench coat she is wearing in the picture above!! Yes, that is one of her patterns! Come on, Moms and GrandMoms, and Aunties, you know you've been wanting to make you something!! Kay has been in the pattern business for the past 8 years. A former school teacher just like myself! She doesn't need me to promote her patterns but I just thought you would like to know who is behind these patterns! There's just something about knowing the person behind the business that makes buying their products so much sweeter. Don't you think? Here are some of her patterns:

So THANK YOU to all these women who have inspired me to "step it up a notch" in reference to SewSensible!! I hope to share some of my new ventures with all of you in the near future!!
Hello! Welcome to my sewing blog!!
