Hurricane Gustav!

Patio furniture turned upside down.

Tommy turned over the trampoline and placed boards on it.

All other toys are being stored in the shed.

My sweet husband!! Gustav will hit in less than 24 hours and he has no worry! One of his main scriptures in the bible is Mat 6:25. I could learn something from him :)

Well, at this point they really don't know where Gustav will hit land but New Orleans seems to be the spot. We live 60 miles from New Orleans and I have to say I am not liking what I see but I know that our family is protected by Him! We stand in faith and know that we are ok today and tomorrow! They are predicting it to be a little worse than Katrina. We made it through Katrina just fine. I was in awe watching the winds of Katrina. I expect the same from Gustav. My husband is outside right now getting all the toys out of the back yard and turned over the trampoline and put big boards on top of that. All the walmarts are closed and the gas lines are long! If you want to stay up to date on what is going on over here in Louisiana, you can click here. This is our home church. Healing Place Church has become a big serving center during emergencies of Louisiana. Operation Blessing is ready. Our church and our other campus' have turned into shelters and rest areas for people evacuating from New Orleans.

I was with Nanette, from Nanoo Children's Designs, this morning at one of our church campus'. Tommy and I lead "His Heart for Orphans" Adoption Ministry Lifegroup at HPC and Nanette is part of our team. Recently we had our very first Heart Gallery! This is where we try to help the foster children of our community find forever families! You can click here to see how that was! Anyway, yesterday we had our quarterly Adoption Workshop and kept the Heart Gallery up for one of our church campus' today! Nanette and I were part of the help today. We both left right after noon today. She will go home and wait for her Mom to come to her home for the hurricane. She will also be talking and planning where her three older children will be during this storm. Please keep us in your prayers.

Right now the outside is actually a nice hot day. We are not seeing anything from Gustav yet.

Oh, and here is something so humbling!! Our family was on the front page of the Saturday paper's People and Faith section! It came about because my Mom was talking to another Grandmother in a pharmacy line about their grandchildren. Mom cannot mention her grandchildren without telling of our family adoption birth story. (Actually neither of our Moms can not NOT mention our family story when talking about their grandchildren!) Anyway, when Mom finished this lady said that was a good story. Mom said with her sweet voice, "Yes, it is God's story." Then the lady said, "No, I mean this is a good story. I write for the newspaper." And that is how it got to be!! And then we thought it would be a small story but God had other plans. We always hope that God is given all the Glory for whatever attention we may get because it is ONLY because of Him that we have the family we have!!

Boutique Bottoms Sewing Pattern and Embroidery Design Applique

How cute cute is this!! Here is an awesome Mommy creation using SewSensible's Boutique Bottoms Sewing Pattern! Don't you think!! This is now a "Stay at Home Working Mom!!" Ok, all we Moms work at home so let me get specific! :) This is a Stay at Home Mom that does custom outfit work. She was encouraged by this post and God opened doors for her and now her creations are HOT!! So if any of you have that desire to start your own custom home sewing business, here is a success story and I believe your success story is right around the corner..... it just needs some "action!!" :) That has been my word of the month: action! We can dream all we want but unless there is action behind our step then we will never see that dream come true! I believe everybody dreams! I dream big and love doing it! I also love to take a risk and just try! So I am here to encourage you again. If you are still dreaming of starting your own business and are letting fear grip you then STOP IT!!!!! Ok, I know that was a little strong but I said it with some sisterly love behind it! LOL

Ok, girls!!!!! Here I go again!! All it will take is to make one custom outfit, bring it to work like this awesome Mommy did above or list it on ebay or open an Etsy shop! I believe some of you reading this right now needed to hear this! Rise up! Raise your hands in the air and look at Him and say, "I am going to do this! Bless me, Lord, so that I can bless others!"

Oh, and send in those Praise reports! I love to hear stories of ordinary people who do extraordinary things!!

Embroidery Applique' Doll and Sewing Patterns!

Ok, I am having lots of fun with designing these cute cute SewSensible Embroidery Applique's. Here is one that will be available soon. The word "blessed" was added by me and is not part of the design. It is Dolly2 but I will give her a name. She is all filled except for her dress which is applique'! With different thread color choices, you can make her black, blonde, or red headed. And with the applique' dress, you can match your little ones oufit perfectly! This will also look great on a pillow, children's tote, apron, etc..... it really leaves the imagination wide open!! I hope in the next couple of months to have a surprise to go along with these designs! I can't wait to show you!!

I will definitely be back for more patterns, in the meantime, here's my cutie modeling this afternoon! God Bless, M"

Here is what this awesome Mommy said, "I tried my very first official PATTERN last night and it turned out AMAZING!!!!!!!! I just wanted to jump up and down (at 3am!) and wake up L so she could try it on! I didn’t! :) Instead, I laid it out in her room with a cute pair of capri jeans and she put it on the second she woke up this morning. I got the pattern online from a wonderful website called Sew Sensible. Loved, loved, loved her instructions!"

Embroidery Applique' Owl

Here is my Embroidery Applique' Owl I did this morning! The Owl is applique' and the branch and leaves are filled. I added the "hoot hoot". The words are not part of the design. You can find all my Embroidery Applique' Designs at My Etsy shop.

Embroidery Machine and Sewing Patterns!

For the past couple of nights I have been having some fun with embroidery applique' time! My children would love to help Mommy but it they always seem to jump on top of the electrical cord unplugging my machine! Makes for a long stitch time! Asa, my second to youngest son, loved the Puppy. He says he wants one on some pants. I believe I will applique' him one with some camouflage fabric! He'll love it!

The Zoo Day is my newest design. I got the idea for this one because we go to the zoo a lot! I put an applique' snowcone in the background that can be changed with different coordinating fabrics. It will be available soon. The Applique Puppy is available. For the puppy, I changed the thread color from a white dog to a brown dog. It came out so cute!

Look for both of these designs on my upcoming sewing patterns! I will be starting these next week! All of my Embroidery Designs are available at SewSensible's Etsy shop. As soon as I figure out instant download on my website, they will be available there. The words are not part of the design. I added those.

All in One, Boutique Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms Sewing Patterns!

Here are some cute cute Mommy creations! Thanks so much, J, for sending these to me and blessing me with your kind words! It is so much fun to see children wearing their Mommy and GrandMommies works of art!! Here is precious princess, K, in a custom All in One Romper, custom Boutique Bottoms, and a custom outfit using SewSensible's Two Pattern Collection for Young Girls: Boutique Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms. Great job, J, as always! And here is what this awesome Mommy said, "Here are my creations with your help. You make me look good Aimee'. =) At church yesterday people were asking if the dress K had on was another piece I made. They love watching your patterns roll off my kitchen table in cute outfits. I keep telling them they are super easy. I think I will have to sit a couple of them down with a machine and get them to try for themselves so they can see that yes they can do it."

Your Questions:

Every now and then I receive a question from one of you about my patterns. I have decided to start posting these questions in hope that they will help others as well. Most of my customers are first time sewing Mommies! With that comes some basic questions that some may feel is too simple to ask. I encourage all of you, if you have a question regarding my patterns, please email me. I will also post the question and answer on this blog. I will not use your name.

One question I received recently was this: Aimee', I made the Twirl SKORT but the bottoms are so much longer than the skirt. What did I do? This is very simple to correct. When you sew the top band and skirt panel to the bottoms and turn it on the outside, make sure you don't turn it where the top band is folded in half. The pattern requires you to turn all of the top band on the right side. This will make the skirt panel fall right above the Bottoms ruffle!
You can see the top band on each Twirl SKORT above is the full top band pattern. So when you turn your top band and skirt panel right side out after sewing it to the bottoms, you will turn it until the whole top band is showing.

Twirl SKORT skirt Sewing Pattern!

Love it!! Here is an awesome Mommy creation using SewSensible's Twirl SKORT Sewing Pattern! This pattern continues to be my favorite just because it is so girly but can be worn during the roughest play days!! Here is what this Mommy said,

"My daughter is 5 and starting kindergarten this month. This summer all she would wear is skorts. They are hard to find in a length that is not really short. Your pattern is perfect. That is until she out grows it. lol. I wanted to show you pictures of completed skorts I did from your pattern. And oh my gosh the pattern was so easy to follow and quick too. Thanks again."

Thank you so much for blessing me with these pictures and for your kind words! Your daughter is beautiful and I just love her gorgeous red hair!!

New Sewing Pattern!

My friend, Nanette, from Nanoo Designs has a new pattern:
DeeDee Pleated Dress is an easy pattern that has pleats on the front and back and ties on the sides. The ties can be adjusted to make the perfect fit. The tie is sewn on to hold the pleats in place and is a great place for some decorative stitching or a small embroidery design. Add an extra button to the straps to adjust for growth. Included are instructions and patterns for sizes 1 through 6 along with lots of pictures to illustrate every step.

You can also check out her blog here! Love it, Nanette!
